Lockerley & East Dean War Memorial Hall – Sustainability Statement
Lockerley & East Dean War Memorial Hall is committed to operating as sustainably as possible and to reducing the environmental impact of our community buildings. As a volunteer-run organisation, we aim to make practical and achievable improvements that lower our energy use, reduce waste, and support the wellbeing of our local community.
We are committed to:
- Improving the energy efficiency of the Hall and The Hive through better insulation where possible, efficient glazing, and responsible heating management, electricity and water usage.
- Reducing heat loss and avoiding unnecessary energy consumption by maintaining our buildings to a high standard.
- Selecting environmentally responsible materials and suppliers wherever possible.
- Encouraging community groups and hall users to adopt simple sustainable practices, including waste reduction and energy awareness.
- Making continuous small improvements that contribute to long-term environmental sustainability and climate resilience for our community.
This project is part of our ongoing effort to operate the Hall responsibly, reduce our carbon footprint, and ensure our facilities remain affordable, warm, and resilient for local residents now and in the future.
