From children’s birthday parties and family celebrations to fitness classes, community groups, meetings, workshops and professional events, Lockerley & East Dean War Memorial Hall offers flexible spaces that can be adapted to suit almost any occasion.
Our Hall is run by volunteers for the benefit of the whole community, and every booking helps us continue providing this valued local facility.
Main Hall
Where the village comes together … and where family celebrations feel at home.
If you’re looking for a bright, spacious venue for a larger gathering, our Main Hall offers plenty of flexibility.
Over the years this room has hosted everything from wedding receptions and birthday parties to craft markets, fundraising events, fitness classes and community celebrations. With seating for up to 170 people theatre-style (or around 120 at tables), there’s plenty of space to make your event your own.
The Hall also benefits from a large stage, adjoining kitchen and accessible facilities, making it suitable for a wide range of occasions.
Hall Hire now includes access to tea and coffee making facilities in the kitchen, subject to availability.

The Hive
The perfect space when you don’t need the whole hall.
The Hive is a bright, flexible space designed especially for youth groups, clubs, and community activities. Positioned as an independent space at the rear of the Main Hall, it offers a sense of separation while remaining closely connected to the wider hall facilities.
Spread over two floors, The Hive provides plenty of room for a variety of uses. The space includes Wi-Fi, its own male and female washrooms, and a
small kitchenette (with sink, fridge and kettle; no cooking facilities).
It’s an ideal setting for small businesses, classes, and pop-up services looking for a convenient local base, as well as a comfortable space for meetings, workshops, and creative sessions.
The Hive is a lively, adaptable space that continues to grow as a welcoming hub for the community.

Coffee Shop / Annex
Where good conversations become great ideas!
The Annex offers a comfortable and versatile space that’s ideal for smaller gatherings where a more informal atmosphere is preferred.
It’s regularly used for Parish Council meetings, trustee meetings, committee meetings and training sessions, while also providing a welcoming setting for coffee mornings, social groups and community activities.
Its flexible layout makes it equally suitable for formal business or relaxed conversation, with easy access to the kitchen for refreshments throughout your meeting or event.
Whether you’re planning an important meeting, a community consultation or simply bringing people together over coffee, the Annex provides a practical and welcoming environment.
Annex Hire now includes access to tea and coffee making facilities in the kitchen, subject to availability.

Our Coffee Shop is open every Monday and Thursday morning and everyone is welcome. It’s a great opportunity to see the Hall, enjoy a drink and experience the warm community atmosphere before making a booking.

Reading Room
Sometimes you don’t need a large hall – you just need the right space.
Forming part of the original 1920 Hall building, the Reading Room is a bright and welcoming space with plenty of character and village history.
The Reading Room is ideal for smaller meetings, tutoring sessions, interviews and informal groups looking for a quieter, more focused setting.
Reading Room Hire now includes access to tea and coffee making facilities in the kitchen, subject to availability.

Kitchen
From birthday cake to wedding buffet, our kitchen has seen it all!
Whether you’re serving tea and coffee or catering for a celebration, our well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to support your event.
Many hirers choose to prepare refreshments themselves, while others bring in outside caterers. Either way, the kitchen is there to help make your event run smoothly.
It’s a commercial-grade stainless steel kitchen, complete with:
- A large professional cooker
- Food warming cupboard
- High-speed dishwasher
- Mains-connected hot water boiler
- Microwave, under-counter fridge, and freezer
The kitchen can be added to your room booking where catering facilities are required.

Kitchen Use
We are now including limited use of the kitchen in all bookings for the Main Hall, Coffee Shop Annex and Reading room. This is intended to allow hirers to make teas and coffees to be consumed during their events.
It includes:
- boiling up water for hot drinks
- Use of of crockery and cutlery to prepare drinks and serve up any brought-in items such as biscuits or ready-made sandwiches
- Use of the sink for washing-up.
Please ensure all items used are properly cleaned and returned to their correct location after use.
Kitchen booking is not required for this type of use but be aware that you may need to share the facilities with other hall users. If another hall user has paid for full use of the kitchen then they have exclusive access and use of tea and coffee making facilities by others is at their discretion.
Customers booking and paying for the kitchen as part of their event have full access to all the cooking and preparation facilities available. They may chose to not allow other users into the kitchen during their booking period.
Wi-Fi
Free public Wi-Fi is available throughout most areas of the hall, making it easy to stay connected during your event, class, or meeting.
Log-in details can be found on the notice boards inside the hall — or just ask a member of the hall team if you need a hand getting online.
Wi-Fi is included with all hall bookings.
Car Parking
There’s plenty of free parking available for visitors to the Hall. We have around 25 spaces on site, including two designated Blue Badge bays conveniently located close to the main hall entrances.
You’ll also find an additional 15 free parking spaces just across the road on Butts Green, providing easy access for larger events and busy occasions.
Whether you’re popping in for a class or attending a big community event, parking is simple and close by.
